It all starts with our vision squad.
General Zaroff
Owner
General Zaroff lived in twenty-five countries on six continents while making a name for himself as a big game hunter before finally settling down on Ship-Trap Island three years ago. While his stay on the island was originally scheduled to last only four weeks, something about the island’s thick jungle, tangles of vines, bedeviled coastline, and proximity to waters that regularly cause ships to crash appealed to him. Ready for the next chapter in his life, the General began inviting guests to the island one year ago after a major renovation to the island’s chateau. A beautiful, historical building, it had been long in disrepair after the previous owner died in quicksand and his staff slowly went mad once it became clear they had no way to get off the island. He enjoys reading, hiking, and sipping port while looking out at thunderstorms and cackling. But, more than anything, he enjoys welcoming new guests to the island.
Sanger Rainsford
Director of Operations
While Rainsford and Zaroff’s initial meeting appeared inauspicious—in fact, General Zaroff attempted to kill Rainsford for sport—things turned around after Rainsford eluded the General for three days and three nights, after which time he appeared in the General’s bedroom and, stepping out from behind a snarl of curtains, announced his own murderous intentions. Luckily, neither of them killed the other one that day, and they became fast friends and business partners. Rainsford, himself a highly experienced hunter with a conscience not hospitable to empathy, is in charge of coordinating the island’s activities. He looks forward to making your stay every bit as harrowing as you’d hope for.
Chas Gillespie
Director of Marketing and Communications
Chas comes to Ship-Trap Island after a successful tenure at Hunger Games International, where he pioneered the Games’ collaboration with numerous high-profile online influencers, attracted over fifteen new corporate sponsors, and expanded the competition to 140 people and 25 genetically engineered superbears. Before that, he led the PR department at The Lottery, which he rebranded from a horrifying murder ritual to a family-friendly break from screentime. While in New England, he also moonlighted as manager of Hill House, although he is contractually prevented from discussing what exactly he did there and who he did it to. He is excited about bringing to Ship-Trap his innovative experience constructing cruel, amoral systems that value entertainment above all else.
Ivan
Guest Services
No one knows where Ivan comes from, what he was doing before he got here, or indeed what language he speaks. No one knows these things because no one has ever dared to ask.
